Chemo Round #15 & #16 & Almost #17

It has been brought to my attention that I have been delinquent in my blog posts. It is a good thing that I have not accepted any kind of advance from a publisher. Not that one has been offered. I have, however, been contacted by a for real professor at Kent State University (is that not where they shot people way back in my youth?) who is doing some kind of study on breast cancer people who blog.

Earlier this month I celebrated the anniversary of my birth. This year it seemed to be extra special. Senor pulled out all of the stops. A very old bitch whose acquaintance I made  back in the second year of obedience school, came out from Alberta to visit me. Our celebrations have always involved feasting. She gained five pounds in four days, even with attendance twice at dog water fitness. We had wine, prime rib, escargot, garlic mashed potatoes, Chinese food, both chocolate/raspberry cake and strawberry cheese cake, nachos, and I am not even taking breakfast and lunch into consideration.

The birthday festival was followed by my trip on a big bus, onto the big ferry, and over the big water to Vancouver. A long time friend of mine and I have an annual get together and we gad about town. We go to the theater, do some shopping, eat at chi chi restaurants, and ride to and fro in cabs. Not the least bit the same as being driven to the CC by Senor in the family CRV and picking up a sandwich at Save On Foods. My friend and I went to the most amazing restaurant called Maenam on West 4th. We were licking the plates. Don’t get excited as that is something we dogs do. She is a wiener dog . After two nights downtown at her Yaletown kennel, I headed out to the suburbs and visited with my own puppy and her family.  More food! You can see that my appetite has kicked back in.  It will be one year on August 26th since I had that first dose of chemo. I am tired of the whole thing and sometimes I wish I could remove the port myself. It drives me crazy, but I have given up trying to hide it. You just cannot wear turtleneck sweaters when it is 30 degrees. And who looks at old ladies anyway ? I have been told that this is the perfect time to start shoplifting.

On the medical front, I am taking some new anti estrogen pills which seem to be working out. No one in Vancouver seemed to think/question that my behavior was in anyway strange. And, the beauty thing. Senor has ALWAYS admired women with really short grey hair. Well, his dream has come true. Since my birthday I have not worn a hat unless the situation calls for it (like raining or really sunny) The new hair is curly and the same colour as previously. Of course I saved some locks!

That is it for today. You might get a bonus post in the next few days. I have a topic that I really want to talk about.
