We Lost The Back Bacon

large (10)

Memory we now realise, is a precious thing. Not the kind of memory which can recall every single thing that Senor has done wrong  in the course of our relationship, but the simple day-to-day stuff  such as  where did we put a fifteen dollar slab of back bacon. We had already eaten a portion of it so we know we did not leave it behind in the car , or at Costco. With that kind of concern  you might have figured out that Senor and I are Canadian poodles as opposed to the French kind. Anyway, back to the bacon. Get it ? I just did. We have searched high and low in this house, as well as the pantry in the garage and it appears to be gone. Cupboards, drawers, refrigerators( (yes, sad but true,  we seem to need  two big stainless boxes to hold our kibble and other nutritional items) We went through the trash both dry and wet (we are green in more ways than one here in Victoria) One of our fears is that we will eventually find the missing piece of meat attached to some dead rodent who had found it and perished from a serious overdose of pork. The loss occurred almost one month ago. We are also concerned as we are now discovering every day that between the two of us we forget quite a lot. This question keeps coming up – is my problem the result of the chemo or drugs which I continue to take for nerve pain ,or just  because I am an ageing baby boomer? We need some answers and there are none. Multi tasking is now a serious challenge ,and filling out forms is a frightening situation. Recently I renewed my passport with the hope of experiencing  future good health and travel opportunities. During my working career  I held positions in which the checking forms prepared by others, and processing accounting documents with a high level of accuracy,  were the greater part of my duties.  Accuracy brought me joy. I know you are saying that woman did not have much of a life. After completing  my application ,and reviewing it for what I thought to be three times , we head off to the Passport office. A caring young pup had to assist me in correcting the multiple errors which prohibited him from forwarding my request to Ottawa. Oh the shame.

I actually have to leave now to prepare something for supper which will tickle Senor’s taste buds.  Let us hope that I remember what I was going to make.
